Consider three locations—not a guessed latency figure
Geographic distance can help narrow your options, but it doesn’t determine remote desktop performance on its own. Consider network routing, your local connection and the services your tasks need to reach.
Where are the people operating it?
Start with the locations of the people who use the desktop day to day. For frequent graphical interaction, check the connection route from each operator to the node first. Don’t infer response times from straight-line distance on a map.
Where do your builds need to connect?
Map the services involved in dependency downloads, code repositories and artifact delivery. For mostly unattended tasks, access to these services may matter more than where desktop operators are located.
Which time zones does your team work across?
Decide who handles access, troubleshooting and build handoffs. Teams across time zones can agree on consistent node labels and record formats to avoid confusing deployment locations with individual work locations.

Choose a deployment location, then get your connection details
A node identifies the region where your dedicated physical Mac is located; it isn’t an address you can connect to directly. After ordering, check the instance’s connection method, address and access permissions in the console, then connect to your cloud Mac desktop using a compatible client.
Use the connection details provided with your order. VNC supports desktop interaction, but a node name doesn’t guarantee a particular protocol, latency or consistent network performance.

How can I confirm I selected the right location?
Before submitting your order, check the model, node, rental term and add-ons one by one. After submission, refer to the order record in the console. For team handoffs, use the location name in the order rather than describing it by compass direction.
What should I check first if I can’t connect after choosing a node?
First, check the authorized connection details provided in the console, your local network and your client settings. Don’t share passwords or keys in public. Then follow theconnection troubleshooting steps in the Help Center; for issues with an existing order, sign in to theconsole and submit a support ticket.
